Primary Responsibilities/Function :
This is a new role to represent Equity Derivative Technology in Sydney. It is
a key role that has arisen as a result of the growth of the Australian derivative
business both this year and planned expansion in 2006. It will involve,
· Facing off to the local Business on
all equity derivative technology issues;

Analysing technology requirements and determining
the appropriate solution;
·
If the solution is a global solution ensuring
the Australian specific requirements are factored
into the plans;
·
Deploying global solutions involving arranging
testing, configuration, and infrastructure set
up and leveraging the wider Equity Derivative
team to ensure issues are resolved. This will
require working closely with regional and global
project/development teams;

Manage and own projects which require an Australian
specific solution. This may involve software
development drawing on local, regional or global
resources (internal and external);
·
Depending on demand building a team to meet Australian
business requirements.
The ideal candidate will work very closely with
front office Equity Trading/Sales staff and associated
Operations and Financial Control teams. The candidate
will be a part of the APAC Equity Derivative
technology team and have the backing and support
of the global Equity Derivative team but will
have to be able to operate autonomously. Key
to success is the ability to communicate clearly,
manage progress and manage local Business expectations
accordingly. The successful candidate will need
to be creative, be able to work under pressure
and tight timeline, demonstrate good teamwork
and high self-motivation.
The ideal candidate will have a technical background.
They will have practical experience of software
design and be able to assess the quality proposals
and be able to contribute to software design
tasks. Some hands on software development is
required.
The first task is to build a 2006 plan for Australia.
This will involve identifying the requirements,
determining the solutions, agreeing relative
priorities with the Business, liaising with the
relevant project teams to estimate effort, identifying
local resource needs and getting the work prioritised
via the relevant Operating Committee. The candidate
will then be responsible for delivering to the
plan tapping into the global team as required.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of trading business
- Possesses background of technology and their
applications in the trading applications
- Programming experience in either of the following
languages: C#, VB, Perl, C/C++, Java, SQL
- Strong analytic skills
- Strong communicator, be able to articulate
business needs into technology requirements
- Strong team player
- Quick learner
- Fluent Spoken English
- Self motivated and ambitious
· Good University Degree
· Quantitative background
· Investment Banking background with Front Office
exposure.
· Business trips to HK, London and US will be required.
A good understanding of Investment Banking in
a Front Office Equities environment including
the F2B flows.
